Consumer Hair Care: Academics to Applied R&D

The National University of Singapore Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research Centre (PIRC) will be hosting an exciting 2-day course on Consumer Hair Care: Academics to Applied R&D. This course will be held on 17th & 18th April 2019 at the NUS Kent Ridge Campus C4-02-01. The course will cover the basic biology, chemistry, and physics of the hair follicle and fiber, then translate the science into key attributes necessary successful consumer hair care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair dyes etc.

The speakers are recognized scientific leaders or established professionals from TRI Princeton (USA), the Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS), NUS Department of Pharmacy, and the Crown Research Institute AgResearch (New Zealand). They will conduct the course through lectures & discussions relating academic, foundational hair science to cutting-edge technologies and current market needs. Special emphasis will be given to functional attributes like strength, shine, styling and protection, according to hair type and ethnicity.

This course will bring people from Academia, Government, and Consumer Care Companies together, with highlights on the consumer care regulatory in. We will discuss how research and innovation can be synergistically combined to address major challenges in hair care product development. It is expressly multi-disciplinary, covering topics from chemistry & biology to physics & medicine, claims and claims support.
